TERM TWO UPDATE:

Term 2 Update:

For the last 5 weeks we have had a student teacher come in from the University of Canterbury.  Her name is Seema Prakash.  She has helped us to make some amazing artwork with us.  We have the recycling arrows template and collaged them with old food wrappers.  We would love for you to come in and have a look.

In maths we have been learning about capacity.  You should come in and see our maths corner, its about measurement.

We have been doing recount writing on our success’s we have had.  They are all looking very good.

We have created some Anzac day paintings with matching acrostic poems.  They make our room look very colourful!

In Te Reo Maori Mrs Davis and the class have been doing music, it is very fun!

In R.E we have been learning about the 10 commandments and have watched the Exodus story we were very lucky to watch it.  The movie is about Moses freeing the slaves to the Promised Land and receiving the Ten Commandments. We made our Holy Communion a few weeks ago.  Everyone looked very pretty!

We have also been learning about sustainability in topic.  Sustainability means making sure you take care of the world so it is here for us in the future, we learnt the earth is a precious gift for us from God so we need to treasure it.

Miss Lischner went to Rarotonga last week and Mrs Harrison was teaching us.  We have painted some lovely autumn artwork with Mrs Harrison.  They are very bright and colourful.  Miss Lischner had a great time in Rarotonga and showed us her photos!  We think Miss Lischner is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

Look at the amazing work Room 5 did in R/E last week. We were learning about how Jesus shows the virtues in Bible stories. In their co-operative groups they received a Bible reading, they had to pick one line out of the story that showed Jesus displaying the virtue of respect. Didn't they do well!!!

Click on the links below to listen to our class songs we have been learning "Reach" and "High Hopes". We discussed these songs in class and realised they were about reaching for your goal and never giving up, this is what we want to do this year in Room 5!

Week 1 Welcome to Room 5 and an exciting school year. We begin the year with a unit called "Oh the Places You'll Go". We will be looking at how to be a self manager, set goals and be proud of our achievements. I look forward to meeting you all and having a fantastic year together
